5. 176 against South Africa at Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara ACA–VDCA Cricket Stadium in 2019
In 2019, when Rohit Sharma was tasked to open innings for India in Tests against South Africa in Visakhapatnam, he proved himself with his bat and racked up twin centuries. In the first innings, he took the visiting side’s bowling unit to the cleaners and smashed 176 runs. Riding on his knock, India claimed a colossal victory of 203 runs against the Proteas.
4. 177 against West Indies at Eden Gardens in 2013
In 2013, MS Dhoni gave Rohit the chance to play his debut Test game at the iconic Eden Gardens, and the Nagpur-born player grabbed the opportunity with both hands and played a sensational innings of 177 in the first innings. It was his batting effort that helped India register an innings and 51-run win.
3. 127 against England at the Oval in 2021
At the illustrious Oval ground in 2021, Rohit showcased his batting mettle against England and clobbered his maiden overseas ton. With India trailing by 99 runs against the hosts in the second innings, Rohit stepped up and produced an elegant innings of 127 to steer his team to a convincing 157-run success in the game.
2. 161 against England at MA Chidambaram Stadium in 2021
After registering a 227-run defeat against England at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in 2021, the home side, India were looking to win the second game at the same venue in the next game. Rohit took the responsibility and helped his team make a comeback. He played an extraordinary innings of 161 in the first innings and helped India win the game by 317 runs on the spin-friendly track.
1. 212 against South Africa at JSCA International Stadium Complex in 2019
In 2019, Rohit recorded his best batting figure in red-ball cricket while contesting against South Africa in Ranchi. He played an exceptional innings of 212 in the first innings of the game and assisted India to post 497/9 on the board. The veteran’s innings shattered the Proteas’ confidence as they got bundled out twice under the scores of 200. India won the game by an innings and 202 runs.
