The 2023 World Cup hosts India opened their tournament campaign in a mouth-watering clash on October 8, Sunday, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. The match that seemed to be in favour of the Indians changed its momentum in the second innings, owing to bowling of Pat Cummins side. After restricting their counterparts at 199, the Men in Blue opened their innings with Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma.

To everyone's surprise, the Men in Blue, who were riding high on confidence after the first innings, lost wickets quickly. India lost their reliable opener Ishan Kishan in the first over and the youngster went back to the pavilion without opening his account.
In shocking turn of events, the 1983 and 2011 world champions lost next wickets in the next over itself. Skipper Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer were the next in line and they too were dismissed on duck.
