The Italian league leaders Napoli will face off against their Serie A-rivals AC Milan in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final at the San Siro on Wednesday night. Napoli got past the German side, Eintracht Frankfurt 5-0 to reach the quarterfinals while Milan beat Tottenham 1-0 in the Round of 16 of the UCL 2022-23.
Luciano Spalletti’s men were on the wrong side of a 4-0 drubbing against Milan just days ago at home. Gli Azzurri bounced back with a win over Lecce with goals from Giovanni Di Lorenzo and an own goal. Victor Oshimen is still doubtful for this game while many eyes will be on the youngster Khvicha Kvaratskhelia as he has lit up the Serie A and will be looking to make his mark on the European stage.
Milan dropped points in the league against Empoli in a tame 0-0 draw this weekend. Stefano Pioli’s men have had an average season but have impressed in Europe as Milan haven’t come this far in the UCL since the 11-12 season. The Rossoneri beat Tottenham by the barest of margins as the only goal from Brahim Diaz was enough for them to go forward. Rafael Leao and Brahim Diaz will be again looking to cut open that Napoli defense as they did in the 4-0 win.
