Amidst rising speculation that Daniel Ricciardo's tenure may end with McLaren following a poor performance in the recently concluded Imola GP, the F1 driver was in the news as the Canadian police department used his name to spread a special message. The York regional police of Canada has come up with an exciting way to remind the drivers of road safety in Warden, Quebec.
Ahead of the upcoming race in Miami 2022, the York regional police reported a McLaren ripping eastbound on Hwy 407. The McLaren was speeding at 172km/h in the allowed limit of 100. Canadian police used an F1 reference and tweeted," Unless you're @danielricciardo on an F1 circuit, speed limits apply." Moreover, in the Valtteri Bottas and Yuki Tsunoda reference, they pointed out who we should follow.
McLaren's had a hot and cold stint over the Imola weekend as Norris brought the Surrey-based team the first podium of the year in Imola with a P3. At the same time, a costly first-lap incident marred Daniel Ricciardo's day. Ricciardo was left carrying damage both from the initial contact and a subsequent collision. The Australian at least had enough momentum to escape and return to the track, but carrying damage and running last left him with a difficult afternoon – Ricciardo eventually came last.
Even F1 journalist Joe Saward recently gave birth to speculations that an American driver could replace Daniel. In his blog, he wrote, "Daniel Ricciardo seems a little lost at McLaren and there continue to be rumours that in 2024 (if not earlier), Daniel will be replaced by Colton Herta, the American who Zak Brown believes could open the gates of Formula 1 to corporate America. "
