The most celebrated siblings in the sports Serena Williams and Venus Williams crashed out of the US Open 2022 doubles after being outplayed by the Czech duo Lucie Hradecka and Linda Noskova. The Williams sisters slumped to a 7-6 (7/5), 6-4 at the Arthur Ashe Stadium.

The American sibling, who were making a return to the court in a doubles tournament since 2018, were handled a wild card entry into the draw for this year's US Open just weeks after Serena announced her retirement  following the conclusion of the tournament. Meanwhile, Serena delivered an outstanding performance against world number 2 Anett Kontaveit of Estonia to enter in the third round of the singles event.

Notably, the American pair has won 14 Grand Slam titles and three Olympic gold medals. After winning her second-round game in singles, Serena Williams admitted that she is super competitive and every victory is a bonus for her. "I don’t have anything to prove. Honestly, I am just looking at it as a bonus. I never got to play like this. Literally, I’ve had an ‘X’ on my back since ’99,” the year she claimed her first Grand Slam title at the U.S. Open at age 17.

Meanwhile, Serena will return to Flushing Meadows on Friday, aiming to extend her singles campaign with a third-round clash against Australia's Ajla Tomljanovic.
