The new season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to get underway on 31 March. Since its inception in 2008, the league has grown bigger and bigger with every passing season. The addition of two more teams last year made the IPL huge from big. But there has been not one season out of the fifteen played already, that the Fab 4 of world cricket- Virat Kohli, Kane Williamson, Joe Root, and Steve Smith played together.

However, there seems to be a possibility that all four superstars of the game will be a part of IPL 2023. As Steve Smith, on Monday, announced that he will be joining a team in the Indian T20 league this year, the possibility of Fab 4 taking part in the IPL looks very much possible now.

Although the Australian cricketer has not yet confirmed if he will be playing for a team or will be taking part in the league in some other capacity, Smith will be a part of IPL 2023. Reports have emerged that he might join the commentary team. In such a scenario, all four cricketers will be participating in this year’s IPL and this will be the first time in the tournament’s history.

Virat Kohli and Kane Williamson will be playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Gujarat Titans (GT) respectively. Meanwhile, Joe Root will be taking part in IPL after a long time as he will play for Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL 2023.

Talking about Steve Smith’s previous stints in the IPL, the Australia batter debuted for Rajasthan Royals. Smith then moved to Rising Pune Super Giants and even captained the side. Smith played for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2021 but the Australian failed to attract any bid at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction.
