Team India skipper Virat Kohli has been surprisingly struggling for form in all formats of the game. He scored his last international century on 23 November, 2019 and has not been able to register another ton since then. The 32-year-old has been on the wrong end of various kinds of uncharacteristic records in this period and he has got one more to add to that list.

Most ducks for Indian skipper in international cricket

Virat Kohli has undoubtedly been one of the most successful captains for India. While he has surpassed other Indian captains in various records, Kohli has now surpassed Sourav Ganguly in an undesirable stat. After the 32-year-old was dismissed on 0 by Adil Rashid in the first T20I against England, Kohli has now gone ahead of Ganguly to have the most number of ducks as an Indian captain in international cricket.

Notably, it was Kohli's 28th duck across all formats on Friday and his 14th as a captain. With this, he went past Sourav Ganguly's 13 ducks as India skipper. Kohli (14) now holds the top spot in the list of most ducks registered by Indian skippers, followed by Ganguly (13), MS Dhoni (11), Kapil Dev (10) and Mohammad Azharuddin (8).

In another not-so-overwhelming stat, this was the first instance when Kohli was dismissed for back-to-back ducks in two consecutive innings. In the fourth Test in Ahmedabad, Ben Stokes had got the better of Virat before he could open his account.

Kohli's struggle against England continues

The Indian skipper has had a difficult series against England so far. Although India won the Test series against England, Kohli registered only 172 runs in 6 innings at a below-par average of 28.67. Notably, the duck in the first T20I was incidentally his third one in last five innings.

Kohli has had a history of coming back from a rough phase in style. He did that in 2014 and the Indian skipper will definitely leave no stone unturned to bounce back from this lean patch. With 4 T20Is and 3 ODIs left in the series against England, Kohli will be raring to go out on the field, score a big ton and silence his critics once again.
