The Super 4 clash between Afghanistan and Pakistan produced a thriller on Wednesday as the Men in Green clinched a narrow 1-wicket and qualified for the Asia Cup 2022 final. The high-octane match saw aggression from both the teams as Afghanistan’s Fareed Ahmad got into a heated argument with Asif Ali where the latter almost hit the bowler with his bat. But things got more ugly off the field as fans from both countries got into fight after the game.

Many videos of Pakistan and Afghanistan fans abusing and hitting each other with chairs inside the Sharjah stadium after the Asia Cup game have surfaced. Former Pakistan bowler Shoaib Akhtar also shared a video of the incident and accused Afghan fans of violence. Akhtar took to Twitter and wrote, “This is what Afghan fans are doing. This is what they’ve done in the past multiple times. This is a game and its supposed to be played and taken in the right spirit.”

After posting 129 on board, Afghanistan had reduced Pakistan to 118-9 in the 19th over. However, Pakistan’s number 10 batter Naseem Shah became the hero after he smashed back-to-back sixes in the last over to set up the Asia Cup final against Sri Lanka. The pacer threw away his helmet and batting gloves after hitting the winning runs while sprinting toward the dressing room.
