During the second T20I of the Women’s Ashes 2025 series, Australian captain Alyssa Healy was hilariously caught on camera, eating a toasted sandwich in the dugout at the Manuka Oval in Canberra on Thursday, January 23. The 34-year-old, who got rested for the T20I leg of the series due to foot soreness, was enjoying her time in the dugout, cheering teammates playing in the middle before the funny moment involving a toasted sandwich went down.
Notably, in the absence of Alyssa Healy, all-rounder Tahlia McGrath has been given the captaincy reign in the T20I leg of the Women’s Ashes 2025, and she led them to a fantastic win by 57 runs in the first 20-over match against England at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). After English captain Heather Knight sent Australia into bat first, they were cruising at 55/1 in 6.1 overs when a camera panned towards Alyssa Healy in the dugout when she was taking a bite of the toasted sandwich.

Alyssa Healy named in Australian Test squad against England despite fitness concerns
Alyssa Healy played to the camera for a few seconds before getting stuck into the toasted sandwich once again, which made the commentators laugh uncontrollably. As far as the second T20I was concerned, Australia ended up posting a formidable score of 185/5 in their allotted 20 overs after 40s from Beth Mooney and unbeaten Tahlia McGrath, while Grace Harris provided the impetus late on with her 35 off 17, which included two fours and three maximums.
Moreover, the Australian selectors have named a 13-member squad for the upcoming women’s Test match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) against England, which will be a day-night pink ball contest, beginning on January 30. The Australian squad includes the name of captain Alyssa Healy despite her fitness concerns, and she will be playing the game as a pure batter if full recovery from foot soreness is gained.
