Although it has been more than a year that Suryakumar Yadav’s game-changing catch in the T20 World Cup 2024 helped India lift much-awaited ICC title, bringing an end to their 11-year trophy draught, the talks around it are still on. Recently, former India batter, Ambati Rayudu made a staggering revelation around the same, bringing it back in news.
It is to be noted that Suryakumar Yadav, who is now Team India’s T20I captain, produced a moment of brilliance in the final over. With India needing to defend 16 runs in the final over and David Miller still at the crease, on the first ball, the explosive batter smashed it down the ground. As the ball looked to sail over the boundary rope for a six, Suryakumar Yadav appeared to catch it just in time, taking the momentum away from the Protean side.
The boundary became a little bigger for us at that moment: Rayudu on SKY catch in T20 WC
The catch not only brought loud cheers, it eventually got the trophy in the hands of the Indian side. While it took place on June 29 in 2024, over a year later, Amabati Rayudu has made a startling revelation around the same. During the 'Unfiltered Podcast' with Shubhankar Mishra, former India cricketer Ambati Rayudu revealed that the world feed team had put a chair and a screen at the same spot to help the broadcasters for a better visibility.
Rayudu, who was part of the commentary panel at that time, added that when the chair was placed, the boundary rope was pushed back a little bit by the team. However, even after the chair and screen were taken off, the rope was not moved to its original place. "There were world feed commentators. During the break, what usually happens is they put a chair there and a screen in order to help the broadcasters see what is happening,” he began.

“That is why they pushed the rope backwards a little bit. But, they left it like that (even after taking the screen and the chair away). That is how the boundary became a little bigger for us. We (the commentators) could see it from above. It was god's plan," Rayudu continued. The 39-year-old added that whatever happened, god was with us on that that.
