Former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu took a hilarious dig at Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for winning an Indian Premier League (IPL) title after 18 years. RCB finally ended their wait of 18 years as they lifted their maiden IPL title after defeating Punjab Kings in the final of IPL 2025 in Ahmedabad on June 3. It turned out to be a festival for every RCB fan across the country watching Virat Kohli and RCB lifting the trophy for the first time.
Notably, there has been a fun banter between RCB and Ambati Rayudu, who used to play for five-time champions Chennai Super Kings in the final days of his IPL career. Apart from CSK, Rayudu has played for Mumbai Indians, who have also won the IPL title five times. Rayudu was also seen criticizing RCB several times during his commentary stint in the IPL in previous seasons. Now, after RCB’s maiden IPL triumph in 2025, Rayudu came up with another hilarious statement.
It will take RCB 72 years to win the IPL title: Ambati Rayudu
In his recent interview with journalist Shubhankar Mishra, Ambati Rayudu made it clear that he only has fun banter with the RCB fans and he was also very happy when RCB won the IPL 2025. However, he also made a hilarious comment on when RCB will be able to win five IPL titles like CSK and MI.

“I was very happy when RCB won the title. People were bursting crackers in my colony. RCB fans are spread all across the country," Rayudu said.
"At this rate, if they have won a title after 18 years, it will take them 72 years to win five titles. They will have to speed up a bit. I think RCB are on the right path and I am really enjoying the way they are playing," he further added.
