Veteran Indian spinner Amit Mishra, who was a part of Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2024, recently came up with clarifications on franchise owner Sanjiv Goenka and how the media misinterpreted his behaviour towards the players. Notably, a video went viral during the last IPL season where Goenka can be seen in a heated conversation with former LSG captain KL Rahul after their team suffered a humiliating defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
After the video went viral, there were several speculations made on Sanjiv Goenka’s involvement in team decisions and his behaviour towards other players. However, Amit Mishra shattered all the negative regarding the franchise owners and said that they never raised their voice against any player in the dressing room.
“If you talk about the owners, I never felt that they were involved too much. The owner never raised his voice or said anything wrong in the dressing room, he was always positive. I think the media did a little too much show-off,” Amit Mishra said in his conversation with Cricbuzz.
KL Rahul was in full control for LSG: Amit Mishra
Amit Mishra also revealed that former skipper KL Rahul had full control over the team during his tenure with the franchise. The veteran spinner also compared the scenarios with the scenarios this season with Rishabh Pant being LSG captain, where the wicketkeeper-batter could be seen having a chat with other support members.
“Last year when I spoke with JL (Justin Langer), he told me that KL Rahul was in full control, he was doing all of the work. He was setting the playing XI and doing the planning. This year, I don’t think that is the case," Amit Mishra said.
“I think everyone is involved. If you see Pant in the dugout, he is talking with Zak (Zaheer Khan). I also saw Rathi talk with Langer," he further added.
