The TV broadcasters of the Indian Premier League 2023 faced the wrath of cricket fans and journalists for playing ‘Hot or Not’ on male cricketers during a Live pre-match show in one of the games. Needless to say, the attempt of the official TV broadcasters for the cash-rich league, Star Sports, to make the pre-match show segment interesting and captivating failed massively when netizens termed their show ‘distasteful’ and ‘cringe’ for the ‘objectification of men’.

The segment featured the likes of Virat Kohli, Andre Russell, and Shubman Gill in their shirtless pictures and the four female anchors present there were asked to rate them if they are hot or not. Not only this, one of the female anchors Mayanti Langer got too uncomfortable seeing things unfolding in front of her. The clip of the segment has gone viral on social media, drawing ire of the fans and journalists, who have slammed the broadcasting channel for objectifying the male cricketers. The fans have shared the clip saying that something like this should never happen, leave alone television.

Speaking of the game, the effort and maiden IPL century of the SunRisers’ wicket-keeper Heinrich Klassen went into vain as the Royal Challengers Bangalore took them down by eight wickets, official eliminating them from the IPL 2023 Playoffs race.
