In the match 28 of the Indian Premier League 2023 played between Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders, Anrich Nortje got hit on the right ankle area in his follow through after Andre Russell had smashed the ball straight into his direction. The DC fast bowler tried to jump out of the line of the ball but he couldn’t do so in time.

Anrich Nortje then hobbled around to ease his pain but went down to the ground shortly afterwards as the physio arrived on the ground to give him treatment. After some spray and strapping on Nortje’s ankle, he was able to carry on bowling the rest of the over.

The overall spell for Nortje was very fruitful as he picked up an important wicket of Venkatesh Iyer for not before finishing off with figures of 2/20 in his 4 overs. His fellow bowlers were also very effective with the ball and they collectively helped Delhi Capitals to restrict Kolkata Knight Riders to 127 run first innings total. Andre Russell ended up scoring 38 off 31 deliveries with 1 four and 4 humongous sixes for the away side.

During their batting innings, Delhi Capitals were far from clinical but their captain David Warner held firm for a long while. He scored 57(41) to set-up the run chase for DC. At the end, the lower order batters for Capitals were good enough to finish the game in their team's favour and achieve a 4 wicket win in the process.

In the post match presentation, the DC skipper David Warner was very pleased about the win and mentioned that they played an okay game. He also talked about how the bowlers responded to the management’s call of picking up early wickets and looked forward to improving their performances as a batting group in the future matches, starting with their upcoming trip to Hyderabad to play SRH.
