Lionel Messi-led Argentina defeated Brazil in the final of Copa America 2021 in Rio de Janeiro to lift the coveted trophy after 28 years. The fans of Argentina football as well as those of Messi had a ball on Sunday as the guests inched Brazil by one goal in the grand finale. Meanwhile, for Argentina, who were the runners-up at four of the past seven editions of the continental competition, this was their 15th Copa America title.

The credit of the historic win goes to Argentina's attacking mid-fielder Angel Di Maria, who received a superb pass from Rodrigo De Paul and converted it beautifully to eventually help the side end their trophy drought. The Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, who was named in the starting XI for just the second time in the tournament, beautifully picked the pass form Rodrigo and ran towards the goal. Seeing the opponent's keeper Ederson reaching closer, he poked the ball over him in the 22nd minute to put Argentina in the driver's seat.

On the other hand, Messi, who won his first major trophy with Argentina, finished the tournament as the player with most goals (4) and most assists (4).

It is indeed tough to describe the ecstasy of the Argentina players, especially Messi, who always missed not having a major silverware to his name with his national team.
