Kolkata Knight Riders registered a win in the last-ball thriller against Punjab Kings on Monday, May 8, at the Eden Gardens to advance to the fifth spot on the points table. Chasing the target of 180 runs, the hosts needed two runs in the final ball with Rinku Singh on the strike. The KKR star smashed a boundary off the last ball to win the game while Arshdeep was totally dejected and left the ground teary-eyed.
The victory of Punjab Kings totally depended on Arshdeep and how he would defend six runs in the final over to help his team step up in the points table. After giving just four runs and picking a wicket in five balls, the pacer ended up bowling a full toss that was hit for a boundary by Rinku.
The left-arm pacer was disappointed with what had just happened, and his eyes were filled with tears. The 24-year-old was left inconsolable as he failed to defend six runs in the final over. He started the final over with a dot ball and gave only four runs before Russell was run out by Jitesh Sharma on the fifth delivery. As Rinku Singh hit him for a boundary on the last, the disappointment was clearly visible on Arshdeep's face.

Speaking of Kolkata Knight Riders, the team struggled in the first half of the IPL 2023, but it seems they are back in the tournament as they registered a terrific five-wicket win over Punjab to claim the fifth position on the points table. On the flip side, the Shikhar Dhawan-led side, after starting the season on an explosive note, are currently hanging on the seventh spot. With this, if they want to be in the qualifying race, they will aim to win all three upcoming matches.
