Ahead of the fourth and final tennis major - the US Open, the top-ranked tennis players are currently playing ATP 1000 Masters tournament - the Cincinnati Open 2025. With the tournament nearing its business end, the fifth day of the tournament faced several challenges including a power outrage which halted round three games for over 75 minutes on Monday, August 11.

Top-ranked Jannik Sinner’s round of 32 match against Canada’s Gabriel Diallo was not only halted due to the power outrage, but also saw fire alarm bring another disruption. In another notable instance, French tennis star Arthur Rinderknech’s third round match, where he was facing Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime, saw him get under the weather.

The 30-year-old French international, who progressed into the Round of 32 after victory over Casper Ruud, saw the scorching heat of Cincinnati hamper his stay on the court. The French player collapsed on the court and was spotted lying down on the court during the second set, suffering from a severe heat wave.

As a result, the French had to withdraw from the match, handing over a walkover to Felix Auger-Aliassime. Speaking of the match, Rinderknech lost the opening set 6-7 in a tie breaker, and was fighting hard, getting to 2-2 in the second set. However, despite struggling from the heat wave, the Frenchman got back, but called it a day due to the unhealthy body condition, ending the game with a scoreline 7-6, 4-2 to Feliz Auger-Aliassime.

While the Canadian will face Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi in the round of 16 on Wednesday, August 13, he will partner with countryman Denis Shapovalov in the men’s doubles on Tuesday night in the ongoing Cincinnati Open 2025.
