England and Netherlands are going head to head in a three-game ODI series held in Amstelveen, Netherlands. In the first game of the series, England lost the toss and was put to bat. Here the Three Lions had a tough start as they lost their opener, Jason Roy, for just one. But Dawid Malan and Philip Salt helped the sides scoreboard moving quickly.

As the duo settled in, Malan smashed a six straight out of the park and lost the ball in the bushes near the ground. In the eighth over, facing Pieter Seelaar, Dawid Malan danced down the track and slogged the ball over long-off for a maximum. The groundstaff rushed to collect the ball but was lost in the bushes beyond the boundary ropes.

Before the start of the series, England captain Eoin Morgan talked about how this tour will be their launching pad for the upcoming season which includes various bilateral series, Hundred and the T20 World Cup.

“At the moment it revolves around trying to get the right players in the right roles given the squad we’ve brought,” he said. “July’s a huge month for us in preparation for the World Cup, playing against two very strong sides [India and South Africa] over the course of a month, which will test us.”

“But that’s where we want to be in order to try and prepare ourselves best for that World Cup. Then there is the Hundred, then we have no more international cricket before we go to Pakistan – and then we have three games before the World Cup. So it will fly around”, Morgan added.
