During the UEFA Youth League final between Trabzonspor U19 against Barcelona U19 at Colovray Sports Center in Nyon, Switzerland, the former side’s player Bican Tibukoglu was seen crying after scoring a consolation goal. In the contest between the two junior sides, Barcelona looked attacking in the first-half and scored two goals within the initial 20 minutes. Ibrahim Diarra started the onslaught with his opening goal in the 11th minute. Following Diarra, Andres Cuenca also scored in the 18th minute and helped Barcelona have a command over the game. Joining the party, Hugo Alba Silviera also chipped in with a goal in the 56th minute.
With Barcelona having a lead of 4-0, the Turkish club looked completely downbeat but their defender Bican Tibukoglu displayed his mettle and scored in the 88th minute. However, he realised that the defeat looked inevitable for Trabzonspor and knowing the fact, the defender broke down. His teammates came to console him but the youngster couldn’t control his emotions. Barcelona walked back victorious but the positive thing Trabzonspor took back home was that they won the fair-play award.
Barcelona U19 bag their third title
Barcelona U19 have won their third UEFA Youth League trophy after beating Trabzonspor U19. It’s the first title win for Barcelona in seven years. In 2018, the Spanish club became the champions for the second time after beating Chelsea U19 at the same venue. Back in 2013, when the tournament was launched, Barcelona became the first champions after vanquishing Benfica in the final.
This is their biggest win in the final as they beat the first-time finalists Trabzonspor U19 by a margin of 4-1. Barcelona’s performance is the third best team score in the final after Benfica’s 6-0 against Red Bull Salzburg in 2021-22 and AZ’s 5-0 versus Hajduk Split in 2022-23.
