Borussia Dortmund defeated Hertha Berlin 2-1 in the final game of their 2021-22 Bundesliga season. But the match held a special importance as the Die Borussen Die Schwarzgelben bid adieu to their superstar striker Erling Haaland who will move to Manchester City in the next season. BVB had a ceremony after the game to commemorate their star.

Even the players & spectators present inside the stadium gave him a round of applause for his time with Dortmund.

The Norwegian scored his 86th goal for the club and capped off a dominant run in the top German division. Haaland also thanked all of the fans in Dortmund via Twitter. He wrote, “It has been nothing but an honour to wear this shirt. At @BVB, I've spent memorable moments, met special people, not to mention a fanbase that has been always our extra man on the pitch. The Yellow Wall is truly incredible. I'll never forget any of this! Thank you all!”

BVB coach Marco Rose addressed Haaland’s departure in the news conference. He said, “We won't stop playing football after Erling leaves us. He decided to take his next step with City and we wish him all the best. He gave us goals, energy, he is a player who always wants to win. I think he still can improve. He is still young. We will meet again. I hope we will meet again".

Along with Haaland, Dortmund also bid farewell to their former player and sporting director Michael Zorc. The German has been part of the club for 44 years. Borussia Dortmund's CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke addressed Zorc’s departure and said, "We've been through everything together and were always close by each other's side. My hope at this painful point of departure is that one never truly leaves. Thanks from everyone here at the stadium.”
