Boston Celtics took on Charlotte Hornets on Saturday and beat them 122-106. Jason Taytum starred for the Celtics as he scored 33 points, 17 of which came in the third quarter. Tatum turned the tide in Celtics’ favour after they were trailing 66-62 after the end of the second quarter. On the back of Tatum’s 17 points in the third, Celtics took a big lead, ending the third quarter 95-85. Eventually, the Whites added another 27 points in the fourth quarter to finish 16 points ahead of the Hornets.

While Tatum ended the game on a high, it did not start well for the Celtics star as he was given a technical four in the dying minutes of the first quarter. The bizarre thing about Tatum getting a technical foul was that he got it for clapping after a missed shot. The incident took place in the 10th minute of the first quarter. Tatum missed a shot and was also unhappy that a foul was not given to the opposition team. He expressed his disappointment by slapping his hands together.

However, it turned out to be triggering for the referee as he signalled for a technical foul and sent Tatum off the court. The Celtics star was living with the decision and was seen muttering something in the face of the referee.

Meanwhile, with the video going viral, fans also shared their opinion on this bizarre decision. Almost everyone wanted NBA to intervene and check on the referee. “NBA gotta step in and do sum ab this,” wrote one user. Meanwhile, a user also defended the referee explaining the rules of the game. “Wasn’t because he missed the shot. It’s because he looked at the ref and clapped. Complaining about a no-call will usually get you a tech lol,” he wrote.
