Former AC Milan defender Alessandro Costacurta accidentally pulled his muscles while he mimicked a tackle during Milan’s clash against Cagliari. Milan ended their six-match winless streak with a 5-1 win over Cagliari on Saturday. During the game, Costacurta, who was a part of the Sky Sports’ broadcasting panel as an analyst had to go through a painful yet hilarious moment when he tried to mimic a tackle.
During the half time, the 58-year-old tried to recreate a tackle as he talked through the Ismael Bennacer goal that made it 1-0. Costacurta tried to mimic the jumping tackle but ended up with a strain on his leg. Once he landed, the former footballer had to stop as he was visibly suffering from pain. The footballer-turned-analyst had to use an ice pack. He told the show’s host Alessandro Bonan, “I’m better, I put on some ice and as you can see I’m fine now.”
There are big expectations, so fierce criticism is to be expected: Stefano Pioli
AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli said that criticism and speculations are expected as the club has big expectations. After the game, Pioli told Sky Sport, "We are a big club, there are big expectations, so fierce criticism is to be expected, just as ebullient praise is expected when you win. That is part of the job, you have to accept it all or you do a different profession. I try to help the team to overcome difficult moments and play as well as possible, sometimes it worked, and sometimes I got things wrong."
Speaking about the club, Pioli said, "I am really sad about this situation, as we were so proud to create that symbiosis with the fans, which passed on positivity, energy and confidence. I have not yet talked to the club. We have another two rounds to go, the season is not over yet. I hope everyone around Milan can rediscover that harmony, enthusiasm, and energy that helped us to achieve things that perhaps nobody believed were possible."
