Mahendra Singh Dhoni is more than just a cricketer in India. The veteran cricketer is worshipped by his fans. He gets so much love from fans even after retiring from international cricket. Dhoni is also famously known as 'Thala Dhoni' as he has been an integral part of Chennai Super Kings over the years.

As Dhoni has hung his boots in international cricket, his fans get to see him in action only in the Indian Premier League (IPL). And therefore, his every move is cheered heavily by the crowd. Every time Dhoni enters the arena, the crowd is up on its feet and cheering for the biggest finisher in IPL.

Monday evening was no exception when Dhoni walked out to bat against Punjab Kings at the Wankhede Stadium. After Ambati Rayudu was clean bowled by Kagiso Rabada, everyone in the crowd knew who was going to enter the stadium now and so they were ready to welcome him. As soon as Dhoni crossed the boundary ropes, the spectators were also up on their feet chanting his name.

Not ideal finish for Dhoni!

While the crowd welcomed MS Dhoni with a big roar in a hope that he will win it for Chennai one more time, it could not happen. Rishi Dhawan did not allow Dhoni to play with the field and ensured Punjab are safely home with his brilliant last over. Although Dhoni hit Dhawan for a maximum on the very first ball of the 20th over, the pacer did not lose control and dismissed CSK's proven finisher.

He also kept his nerves intact on the next three balls as he only conceded eight runs of them, handing Punjab an 11-run victory. Dhawan finished the day with the bowling figures of 4-0-39-2.
