The inaugural edition of SA20 2023 is up and running and Faf du Plessis’ Joburg Super Kings took on Quinton de Kock’s Durban Super Giants in the second match of the first season of the tournament. Du Plessis opted to bat first after winning the toss. But his decision looked foolish as Joburg Super Kings lost a couple of early wickets. However, the Super Kings captain tried to anchor the innings.

Du Plessis scored 39 runs off 33 balls before perishing to Akila Dananjaya. With Plessis gone and the pitch looking tricky to bat on, Super Kings looked in a fix. But Donavon Ferreira had entirely different plans. The all-rounder was hitting the Super Giants bowlers all around the park with utmost ease. It looked like Ferreira was batting on a different pitch. The swashbuckling batter got to his half-century in just 28 balls.

Ferreira then handed a couple of lusty blows and a couple of the shots he played were nothing short of excellent. One of those came in the 13th over of Super Kings' innings when Ferreira hit a paddle-cum-scoop for a six despite losing his balance in the process.

Ferreira continued the onslaught after that as well. He played another outrageous shot a couple of overs later. The batter scored six runs with the help of a reverse sweep against Akila Dananjaya. On the fourth ball of the sixteenth over, Dananjaya bowled a fuller delivery. Ferreira, meanwhile, was quick to change his stance and smoke it for a six over point.
