A hilarious incident took place during the final of the South Africa T20 League (SA20) 2025 in Johannesburg on February 8. As MI Cape Town and Sunrisers Eastern Cape were facing each other in the title clash at the Wanderers Stadium, a fan from the stands gave other spectators an unexpected show in an attempt to catch the ball. During the 17th over of MI Cape Town’s innings, Connor Esterhuizen smashed a huge six off Sunrisers Eastern Cape skipper Aiden Markram.
As the spectators were in awe of the six by Connor Esterhuizen, a fan from the stands grabbed everyone’s attention as he was attempting to grab the ball that the MI Cape Town batter smashed for a six. However, in a hilarious turn of events, the fan not only failed to catch the ball, but also lost his balance and ended up falling from the upper tier onto the lower stands. As the things couldn’t get more awkward from here, his pants also fell off during the fall adding another unexpected twist in the tale.

MI Cape Town defeat previous time champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape to win maiden SA20 title
Talking about the match, MI Cape Town (MICT) finally stopped Sunrisers Eastern Cape (SEC) from winning the third consecutive title and defeated them by 76 runs to lift their maiden SA20 title. Batting first MICT posted 181/8 in their 20 overs with Connor Esterhuizen top scoring with 39(26) runs. Apart from that, Dewald Brevis also scored a quickfire 38(18) while Ryan Rickelton contributed with 33(15) runs. For SEC, Marco Jansen, Richard Gleeson, and Liam Dawson scalped two wickets each while Aiden Markram and Craig Overton scalped a wicket each.
Chasing the winning target, Sunrisers Eastern Cape failed terribly and were bowled out for 105 runs in 18.4 overs. Tom Abell scored 30(25) runs, while Tony de Zorzi scored 26(23) runs. Apart from that, none of the other batters could stay at the crease for long. For MICT, Kagiso Rabada registered figures of 4/25. Apart from that, Trent Boult and George Linde took two wickets while Corbin Bosch and Rashid Khan scalped a wicket each.
