Serbia eliminated from the FIFA World Cup 2022 in the group stage as they finished at the bottom of the Group G that also included Brazil, Switzerland and Cameroon. Serbia striker Aleksandar Mitrovic led his side in scoring as he scored two goals in three matches and received an incredible reception by the fans on Thursday night.

In the World Cup, Serbia faced two defeats and played a 3-3 draw against Cameroon. Serbia lost 2-0 against Brazil in their opener and ended up losing 3-2 in their final group stage fixture against Switzerland.

Aleksandar Mitrovic scored Serbia's opener against Switzerland and the final goal against Cameroon that helped Serbia took a two-goal lead, which was later equalised.

During a match on Thursday night, Mitrovic was spotted sitting in the stands and fans set the stadium abuzz with chants and slogans for the 28-year-old striker. The Serbian acknowledged the love expressed by the fans and stood up from his seat to wave his hands towards the fans.

Mitrovic currently plays as a striker for Fulham and has scored a total of 23 goals in 76 appearances for the club in the Premier League since 2018-19 season. Meanwhile, the FIFA World Cup 2022 has entered its quarterfinals stage as Brazil, Croatia, Argentina, Netherlands, Portugal, Morocco, France and England will battle for the semifinals berth.
