In the opening match of the new Women’s Premier League (WPL) season for Mumbai Indians (MI), their captain Harmanpreet Kaur played a fiery innings of 42 runs in just 22 balls with a plethora of boundaries against Delhi Capitals. After a fantastic duel with Australian all-rounder Annabel Sutherland, collecting 18 runs in four balls before getting dismissed to her, Harmanpreet Kaur’s effort was enough for Mumbai Indians to go past 160 runs before being bundled out.

At the start of her batting innings, Harmanpreet Kaur got stuck into the fellow Indian internationals Radha Yadav and Arundhati Reddy, smashing them for a six each. The right-handed batter got into overdrive in the 11th over of Mumbai Indians innings, smashing Annabel Sutherland for two consecutive fours, followed by a six and a four, to get into the 40s in double-quick time.

Apart from the MI captain, their star batter Nat Sciver-Brunt played a crucial hand, scoring an unbeaten 80 in 59 balls with 13 fours, to ensure that they scored 164 runs in 19.1 overs against Delhi Capitals.
