In the 20th over of the Chennai Super Kings’ batting innings, Harshal Patel of Royal Challengers Bangalore delivered two above the waist height no-balls to Moeen Ali. With that, he was removed from the bowling attack by the umpires in the middle and Glenn Maxwell had to step in to complete his over. Harshal Patel ended up bowling only 3.2 overs in which he conceded 36 runs and picked up the big wicket of Devon Conway.

The batting innings of CSK finished at the score of 226 with the loss of 6 wickets, including half centuries from Devon Conway and Shivam Dube. For RCB, Mohammed Siraj was the pick of the bowlers as he went for only 7.5 runs per over in his spell. He also picked up the all-important scalp of Ruturaj Gaikwad early in his second over.

With the bat, Royal Challengers Bangalore had a horrible start as they lost Virat Kohli in the first over and then Mahipal Lomror departed back to the pavilion for no score in the second over. But then, the captain Faf Du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell took the attack to the Chennai bowlers and put together a 126 run stand in 61 deliveries to put their team in commanding position to win the game.

But with both set batters falling in quick succession, the pressure of required run rate was back on RCB once again. In the end, Dinesh Karthik’s cameo of 28 runs in 14 deliveries was not enough as CSK achieved an 8 run victory against their fellow southern rivals.
