It hasn't been an ideal start to the tournament for the Chennai Super Kings. Asked to bat first, CSK would have been hoping for a blistering start from Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad. Instead Gaikwad departed for a duck and Conway couldn't last long either, falling for just 3 runs. Robin Uthappa and Ambati Rayudu did look to provide some solidity to their innings but both departed in quick succession.

While Uthappa was out stumped, Rayudu was caught short of his crease after a huge mix-up between him and the new CSK captain Ravindra Jadeja. It all happened in the 4th ball of the 9th of the CSK batting innings being bowled by Sunil Narine. While Jadeja had just worked it a little wide of short midwicket where captain Shreyas Iyer was stationed, he took a couple of strides before realising that there wasn't a run.

However, Rayudu had committed himself too far and by the time he was told "no", it was a chance to be taken for KKR who made no mistake and picked the fourth CSK wicket for just over 50 runs on the board.

Here is the run out:

Later in the innings, CSK did manage to recover and post a fighting 131/5, thanks to MS Dhoni's unbeaten 50 off 38 balls. However, that did not prove to be enough in the end as the Men in Yellow tasted a six-wicket defeat with 9 balls remaining.
