Joe Root hasn't been quite a happy man in England team. While he has scored some runs and let his bat do the talking, his teammates especially the batters have let him down big time and consequently, the Three Lions are staring at their second defeat in the second Ashes Test. However, leaving all this aside Root has also been battling some injury concerns, getting hit twice on the lower body during Day 4 of the ongoing Test match at Adelaide.
Root was caught in a rather awkward situation in the final session of the pink-ball test on Day 4 when a Mitchell Starc delivery hit the Englishman on his groin after which he clearly looked in discomfort. What should also be noted is that this was the second time on Day 4 when he had got stuck in the nether region. Earlier, the 30-year-old had missed the first session on Day 4 after he had received a blow while batting at the nets without the protective box.

Root even had to be taken to a hospital for scans before he resumed playing. However, former England captain Alastair Cook saw the funny side of things as he recalled a similar incident during a Test match in Cardiff where a ball that took the edge of Steve Smith had hit Cook on his groin. Root, who was standing beside him in the slip cordon, had laughed at him then and Cook returned the favour saying, " What goes around comes around."
"I would love to say what goes around comes around!" he joked while expressing his views on BT Sport. "But I was OK. I've had two children since. I don't know how Rooty is at the moment," he stated.
Meanwhile, despite the pain Root had picked himself up and continued playing before being dismissed by Starc in the final over of the day's play, which more or less confirmed the fate of the match. As of now, England are 6 down for 142 in the second innings and are 326 runs behind Australia with 60 overs left on Day 5.
