Team India continued their dominant run in the ongoing ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2023 with a 243-run win against South Africa on Sunday at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata. After winning the match, the Indian fielding coach T. Dilip announced the best fielder medal and named a new winner for the match against the Proteas.

Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat first as the Men in Blue registered a mammoth total of 326 runs. Birthday boy Virat Kohli smashed an unbeaten century to level legendary Sachin Tendulkar on a joint-record 49 ODI tons. The Indian bowlers ran riots in Kolkata as Ravindra Jadeja picked up a fifer while Mohammad Shami and Kuldeep Yadav dismissed two players each to restrict South Africa to 83 runs in 27.1 overs.

After the match, the fielding coach announced the best fielder medal winner and named the "Professor" as the newest medal winner for Team India. Coach Dilip began with a quote saying, "The strength of our whole team is each member and I think each member's strength is our team." He went on to announce Suryakumar Yadav as a new contender for the medal while he named Professor - Rohit Sharma as the winner.

The former best fielder medal winner, Shreyas Iyer handed the medal to skipper Rohit Sharma as the whole team emerged in joy after the award announcement. Coach Dilip awarded Rohit the best fielder medal for his tactical awareness in the match against South Africa.

Talking about the tournament, Team India won their eighth match on the trot in the CWC 2023 and confirmed their group-stage finish as the toppers. With India and South Africa being the only teams to qualify for the semi-finals, Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Afghanistan hold a big chance to secure the remaining two berths.
