India took on Australia in the second Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2022-23 on Friday (17 February). Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to bat first. Unlike the first Test, Australia got a decent start as Usman Khawaja and David Warner stitched a 50-run opening partnership. However, India soon had their man as Mohammed Shami got Warner caught behind the wicket.

India took a couple of wickets in quick succession then. R Ashwin got rid of Marnu Labuschagne and Steve Smith while Shami sent back Travis Head. Ravindra Jadeja also got into the act as he dismissed Usman Khawaja, courtesy of a fabulous catch from KL Rahul. However, Peter Handscomb stood in India’s way although wickets kept falling from the other end.

Ravindra Jadeja, meanwhile, ended Handscomb's heroics as he got the batter caught at covers. The Indian players started walking back to the changing room to get ready for batting. But there was a twist in the tale. The third umpire turned down the decision as Jadeja had overstepped. The players who had already left the field were asked to come back.
