Ja Morant ended up with 29 points as he hit this circus shot at the end of the first quarter. The 21-year-old then put up another incredible stat line as he scored a career-high 52 points with seven rebounds and two assists. He shot 73.3 from the field and a perfect 100% from beyond the arc making four out of four three-pointers.
When asked about what was the most memorable moment from the game, Morant said, “It's got to be the 50 (points),” in the post-match interview. He then also talked about the support shown by his teammates and coaches. He said, "I'm thankful for my teammates, my coaches. They believe in me and have all the confidence in the world that I'll make the right plays."
NBA legend and head coach of the San Antonio Spurs, Gregg Popovich, also talked about Ja Morant’s incredible game. He talked about his athleticism and also stressed his decision making. Pop said, “He's a beautiful player, what else can you say about him? It's not just that he's athletic. Everybody says, ‘He's athletic.' Somebody says, ‘He's a freak of nature,' because he's so fast. ... But he makes decisions. He knows what is going on on the court. So, you combine that cerebral part of his game with his athleticism and you've got a special kid."
