On a spinning-track at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Jasprit Bumrah became the unlikely hero for India against Sri Lanka. Having put up a total of 252 runs on board in first innings, the onus was on the spin trio of Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel to do the job for home side. But much to everyone's surprise, it was Bumrah who wreaked havoc with his fiery bowling.
The right-arm pacer seemed to be enjoying bowling with the pink-ball as he bowled a magical spell, registering his maiden 5-wicket haul in India, his 8th in Test cricket. He registered figures of 10-4-24-5 as Sri Lanka were bowled out on 109 in first innings.
Sensational bowling from Boom Boom Bumrah!
After the Indian pacer had dismissed Kusal Mendis and Lahiru Thirimanne with perfect line and length bowling, he sent Angelo Mathews back to pavilion with an exceptional change-of-pace delivery. On the morning of Day 2, he reached the milestone by taking the wickets of Lasith Embuldeniya and Niroshan Dickwella through ferocious bouncers.
