The NBA 2022-23 regular season kick started with Boston Celtics taking down Philadelphia 76ers at the TD Garden on Wednesday morning. Celtics forwards Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown combined for 70 points to beat 76ers by nine points.

Philadelphia 76ers opened the game on a high note as they managed a five-point lead over Celtics at the end of the first half, however Celtics tied 76ers 63-63 at the end of the first half. Tatum dropped 17 points in the third quarter as Boston managed a 10-point lead and Philadelphia failed to cover the lead and lost the game 126-117.

Celtics star duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown each scored 35 points and the power forward registered 12 rebounds and four assists while the small forward made two assists and two steals to help their side open the NBA 2022-23 regular season campaign on a winning note.

Apart from the Celtics forwards, Malcolm Brogdon (16), Grant Williams (15) and Marcus Smart (14) played an impressive game to help their team dominate 76ers. On the other hand, James Harden showed a promising performance as he registered 35 points, eight rebounds and seven assists while Joel Embiid scored 26 points and made 15 rebounds and five assists. 

76ers guard Tyrese Maxey scored 21 points while forward Tobias Harris registered 18 points, however their efforts felt short as Tatum became the first Celtics to drop 35+ points and 10+ rebounds in the first game of the season since Paul Pierce in November 2004.

Celtics will now travel to FTX Arena to face Miami Heat in their next match on October 22 while the 76ers will host Milwaukee Bucks at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia on October 21.
