Indian batter Jemimah Rodrigues retired hurt due to a left wrist injury during Brisbane Heat's Big Bash League (WBBL) victory over Sydney Thunder in the Challenger Playoff in Brisbane on Friday, November 29. The injury raises doubts about her participation in the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia, which begins on December 5. Brisbane Heat defeated Sydney Thunder by nine wickets at Allan Border Field, setting up a WBBL title duel with Melbourne Renegades on Sunday at the MCG.

Rodrigues' 43 in 30 deliveries helped set the tone for Brisbane's chase before retiring hurt in the tenth over. Chasing 134-run target, Rodriques was dropped three times by Sydney Thunder fielders. However, her wrist injury intensified during the game, which had initially occured while trying to save a boundary during Thunder's innings. She had fallen awkwardly on the joint, while diving onto the field. She taped her left wrist during batting, but the pain aggravated, and that's why she had to leave the pitch.

Jemimah Rodrigues' availability for WBBL final and ODI series is in doubt

Brisbane Heat will face the Melbourne Renegades in the final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday, December 1. However, Rodrigues' availability for Sunday's match and the Australia ODI series remains uncertain. She has been picked in the Indian squad for three One-Day Internationals against the Australia women's cricket team, which will be played on December 5 and 8 in Brisbane and December 11 in Perth.

Rodrigues holds a key role in the Indian batting lineup, where her skills proved vital in the middle order. Her presence will be critical against the powerful Australian cricket team, who are a difficult obstacle to overcome. Ahead of the ODI series against Australia, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officials and Indian women's cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur introduced the team's new ODI jersey. The team will wear the new jersey throughout the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia.
