Indian batter Jemimah Rodrigues took a brilliant catch to dismiss Hayley Matthews in the WPL 2023 game between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals. This fixture at the DY Patil Stadium was tipped towards Harmanpreet Kaur’s side, who bundled out a roaring Delhi Capitals to just 105 in the first innings.
Chasing this comparatively low total, Mumbai Indians got off to a brilliant start with openers Yastika Bhatia and Mathews batting with composure. After Bhatia’s wicket, the West Indies all-rounder tried to increase the rate of scoring and lofted the ball towards the cover region. Here, Rodrigues spotted the ball, took charge and completed an incredible diving catch to dismiss, Hayley Matthews at the score of 32 in 31 balls.

Despite this brilliant effort, the Delhi Capitals were still far away from the eventual winners Mumbai Indians. Harmanpreet Kaur's side registered a brilliant eight-wicket victory after Nat Sciver-Brunt hit the winning runs to finish off the 15th over.
Reacting to this performance, Harmanpreet Kaur praised her team and had some special compliments for her bowling attack. She said, "Today our bowlers did really well. They're making my job easier. Whoever comes in is eager to bowl. When you have so many options, your job is so easy. Credit to our bowlers."
"Bowling according to the field is key in T20s and we're able to do that. After the last game we all discussed that we bowled some bad balls. Yastika and Hayley gave us a really good start. Now the tournament is going to start because the pitches are going to be on the slower side."
