The MLS 2022 playoffs are underway as FC Dallas beat Minnesota United FC 5-4 in penalties after ending the extra-time at 1-1 on Tuesday. In the extra time of the Western Conference playoff between Dallas and Minnesota, forward Jesús Ferreira missed an open chance to score a goal and become the extra-time hero for Dallas.

Dallas and Minnesota faced each other at the Toyota Stadium and both the teams scored a goal each in the second half to enter the extra time. However, both the teams failed to score in the additional 30 minutes forcing the game into penalties.

In the 110th minute, Dallas forward Jesús Ferreira had a chance to score the extra-time winner for his team as he received a deflected cross at the center of the box. However, the 21-year-old forward failed to score from a close distance as he failed to connect with the ball. The ball reached at Dallas midfielder Sebastian Lletget's feet, who tried to score a backheel but couldn't get my speed in his kick as it was saved by the goalkeeper St. Clair.

The game entered into penalties, where Minnesota United FC defensive midfielder Wil Trap failed to score the penalty kick that helped Dallas win the game by 5-4 on penalties. Dallas have reached the MLS Western Conference semifinals and will face Austin FC at the Q2 stadium on October 24.

Meanwhile, New York City FC defeated Inter Miami CF 3-0 to reach the Eastern Conference semifinals, where they will face CF Montreal.  Inter Miami striker Gonzalo Higuain played his final game of the career against NYCFC and left the field in tears.
