On the latest episode of WWE SmackDown from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, John Cena made an emotional speech after losing his WWE Championship at SummerSlam to Cody Rhodes, while turning babyface in the process. After challenging Brock Lesnar for a fight, the Leader of the Cenation was interrupted by Logan Paul, who challenged him for a singles match at WWE Clash in Paris later this month rather than SmackDown on the same night in Montreal, which he ended up accepting.

Just before John Cena accepted Logan Paul’s challenge, who tried to run him down with some choice words, it was Drew McIntyre’s attack from behind on the 17-time WWE Champion, which led to the new WWE Champion Cody Rhodes making the save. The massive turn of events happened just five nights removed from a hellacious street fight for the WWE Championship between John Cena and Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam.

John Cena and R-Truth partake in hilarious interaction on WWE SmackDown

SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis came out to the entrance ramp to make a high stakes tag team match for the night, pitting Cena and Rhodes against McIntyre and Paul. Just minutes before the match commenced, John Cena had a run-in with R-Truth, and they both looked each other up and down before doing a mirror mime routine before Truth got excited to have Cena back and hugged him in yet another hilarious segment between the two.

The tag team match in the main event of WWE SmackDown was all about Paul and McIntyre isolating Rhodes, not allowing him to make a tag to Cena for quite some time. But when John Cena did get introduced into the contest, he delivered his signature five knuckle shuffle and Attitude Adjustment on Logan Paul before the latter went low, to force the referee to call for the bell and end it in a disqualification.

Cena and Paul took their fight up the entrance ramp and into the backstage area before McIntyre closed out WWE SmackDown by taking out Rhodes.
