In the high-voltage Champions Trophy 2025 game between India and Pakistan, Khushdil Shah dropped opener Shubman Gill, who was looking in brilliant touch with his bat. Chasing a score of 241 runs, India witnessed their captain Rohit Sharma flexing his muscle and taking Pakistan’s bowling attack to the cleaners. However, Rohit’s innings came to an end on the last ball of the fifth over as he was stunned by Shaheen Shah Afridi’ excellent yorker. After the captain's departure, Shubman Gill took the responsibility to hammer Pakistan bowlers.
However, after the powerplay, Pakistan could’ve breathed a sigh of relief as Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan inducted speedster Haris Rauf to get the breakthrough. The 31-year-old gave his team the opportunity to get rid of Shubman, but Khushdil, who was deployed at midwicket, failed to hold his nerves and dropped Gill. Star India opener was on 35* off 38 when Khushdil missed the chance.
Kohli adds another batting feat to his profile; becomes fastest player to 14000 ODI runs
India are looking fierce in the chase thus far as the Men in Blue have amassed 102 runs in 18 overs with a loss of two wickets. Gill was outclassed by Abrar Ahmed after scoring 46 off 52. Earlier, Kohli recorded another achievement to his name as the 36-year-old completed his 14000 ODI runs after scoring a four against Haris Rauf through a cover drive on the second ball of the 13th over.
With the new batting feat, Kohli is now the only batter along with former Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara and India legend Sachin Tendulkar to notch up more than 14000 ODI runs. Currently, the veteran is in the middle with Shreyas Iyer.
