The first innings of the PSL 2021 qualifier match between Islamabad United and Multan Sultans was full of action. After losing a few quick wickets, Sultans got back into the match with a crucial partnership between Sohaib Maqsood (59 off 41) and Johnson Charles (41 off 21). However, both the set batsmen were dismissed in 15th and 17th over respectively with Sultans having two new players at the crease for the final three overs. With the score reading 140/5 in 17 overs, Mohammad Rizwan's side needed someone to step up to take them to a competitive total and Khushdil Shah rose to the occasion.

Javed concedes 29 runs in penultimate over

After Hasan Ali bowled a brilliant 18th over conceding only 5 runs, Akif Javed came to bowl the penultimate over. Sohail Tanvir started the over with a boundary before taking a single and handing over the strike to Khushdil. The 26-year-old made his intentions clear after he smashed a humungous six over wide long-on region. He completely mistimed the next delivery but a top-edge took the ball over the third-man boundary.

Khushdil then sent the next two balls (a full-toss followed by a short-pitch delivery) into the stands over square-leg fence. As a result of four back-to-back sixes, 29 runs were scored in the 19th over as Sultans ended their innings on 180/5 in 20 overs.
