Delhi Capitals (DC) wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul has revealed the story behind naming his daughter Evaarah. Rahul and his wife Athiya Shetty became parents of a baby girl in March 2025. The star India player couldn’t mark his presence in his team DC’s inaugural Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 game against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on March 24, due to his daughter’s birth. The 33-year-old, along with his wife Athiya, shared a picture of their daughter with them on the former’s birthday on April 18. Talking about naming his daughter, Rahul revealed that he found the name Evaarah somewhere and googled its meaning. However, he added that it took him some time to convince his spouse Athiya about the name.

“It was a name that I just stumbled upon. We did go through a couple of name books that were sent by some close friends. Then I googled Evaarah and checked what the meaning is," said Rahul while speaking at DC’s event. He also added, “I loved it from the moment I saw it. It took me a little time to convince Athiya. But her parents and my parents loved it. Then she slowly fell in love with that name."

Kevin Pietersen feels KL Rahul will be seen serving India in the T20 World Cup 2026

Former England batter and DC mentor Kevin Pietersen believes KL Rahul will return to India’s T20I squad and play the T20 World Cup in 2026. In the past, Rahul found himself under criticism for his batting approach in the shortest format of the sport. However, the right-handed batter has reformed his batting style in T20 cricket recently.

In IPL 2025, he has accumulated 381 runs in 10 matches at a superb strike rate of 142.16. Rahul hasn’t played a T20 match for Team India since November 2022, when the Men in Blue clashed with England in Adelaide in the T20 World Cup 2022 semi-final and registered a 10-wicket thumping.
