South Africa was cruising ahead in confidence and was close to confirming its spot in the semi-final stage until they choked against Pakistan on November 3 (Thursday) in a rain-affected match.

The Temba Bavuma-led side was the only unbeaten team in the Super 12 stage until Pakistan spoiled their party. While the batters like Rilee Rossouw, David Miller, and Tristian Stubbs have performed exceptionally well for the team, the South African skipper redeemed himself as he played a fine knock against Pakistan.

Amid severe criticism from all quarters, the 32-year-old right-handed batter scored a crucial 36-runs off just 19 deliveries with the help of one maximum and four boundaries. Notably, Bavuma's 36 runs were the highest score as the side crumbled during their run-chase.

Meanwhile, a short video shot ahead of the Pakistan vs South Africa match involving Temba Bavuma is going viral on the internet where a cricket fan engaged in a hilarious conversation with the Proteas skipper, leaving the latter embarrassed and confused. In a 22-sec long TikTok video, a cricket fan addressed the Proteas as 'South African legend captain' but went on to ask his name from the batter himself.

"Hi, how are you? I am with the South African legend captain. What's your name, please?" said a cricket fan in the video.

"I am Temba Bavuma," a confused South African skipper responded.

The cricket fan further went on to say, "Temba Bavuma. The legend batter, the legend captain who will destroy the Pakistan cricket team in the upcoming match."

In another TikTok video, the same cricket fan encountered South African pacer Lungi Ngidi and claimed that 'Ngidi will destroy Pakistan in the upcoming match.' "Brother, I love you so much," said a cricket fan in a TikTik video.

Meanwhile, South Africa is desperately seeking one more point on the points table as that would confirm their spot in the semi-final stage. While Pakistan will not only be eager to beat Bangladesh in their final clash on Sunday but would also hope that either Netherlands beat South Africa or the result of the match between India and Zimbabwe goes in the latter's favour.

New Zealand and England have qualified for the semi-finals from Group 1, while semi-finalists from Group 2 will be confirmed by Sunday evening.
