The semi-final of the T20 Blast saw a hilarious run-out that would definitely make you fall your chair. The dismissal took place on the second last ball of the Hampshire innings when Roelof van der Merwe fired a delivery outside the off-stump. The batter James Fuller missed the ball entirely as he had made too much room.

Here, Liam Dawson, the non-striker called for the run but didn’t realise that the ball was near the keeper who took off the bails by the time he got to the crease. The comedy of errors didn’t stop here as Dawson went off the field as he thought he was the one who got out but it was actually his partner who was run-out. The game continued with Fuller batting in the middle, as Dawson had entered the dressing room before the final decision was given.

But for Hampshire, the game ended in their favour as they entered their first final after a decade-long drought. Their captain James Vince was extremely proud of his team and talked about how they seamlessly adjusted to a pitch which was losing pace. In the post-match interview, Vince said, “I think it has been 10 years since we won one (semifinal).”

“The wicket lost a bit of pace as the game went on and the bowlers were spot on. The toss is not the be-all and end-all, in the first game we saw 200 chased down and there were questions whether to bowl first, but we backed our strength,” he continued.

The Hampshire Hawks went on to defeat Lancashire Lightning by 1-run to claim the Vitality Blast 2022 title after the last-ball drama in the final at Edgbaston on Saturday night.
