A violent clash erupted between FC Dallas and Lionel Messi fans after their Leagues Cup match on Monday night. The incident took place outside Toyota Stadium in Texas, where Inter Miami, defeated FC Dallas in a thrilling penalty shootout.
The brawl was captured on video by a Twitter user who posted it online, and the footage shows a man wearing a Messi Argentina jersey fighting with two men wearing FC Dallas shirts. A woman probably on the side of the Messi fan, was trying her best to defend him but couldn't interfere. The Messi fan appears to be outnumbered, but he manages to land some punches and even take down one of his opponents with a single-leg takedown.
The cause of the fight is not clear, but it could be related to the heated atmosphere inside the stadium, where Messi had scored two goals, including the winning freekick once again to help Inter Miami come back to draw 4-4 in regulation time. The Argentine superstar then converted his penalty in the shootout, along with Sergio Busquets, as Inter Miami won 5-3 and advanced to the quarter-finals of the Leagues Cup.
