The cause of the fight is not clear, but it could be related to the heated atmosphere inside the stadium, where Messi had scored two goals, including the winning freekick once again to help Inter Miami come back to draw 4-4 in regulation time. The Argentine superstar then converted his penalty in the shootout, along with Sergio Busquets, as Inter Miami won 5-3 and advanced to the quarter-finals of the Leagues Cup.
