After a wait of 36 years, Argentina finally managed to win the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. La Abiscilente clinched the victory in a dramatic penalty shootout where they finished at a score of 4-2. As  Ariel Montiel scored the winning  spot kick, Argentine superstar Lionel Messi was in tears as he finally won the elusive trophy for his home country. 

Messi was down on his knees as he cried tears of joy after he replicated Footballing royalty Diego Maradona's feat to win the World Cup for Argentina. In the summit clash, Messi scored the first goal for the  Abiscilente and then came back to score once again at the 109th-minute mark.

Describing this magical moment, veteran football commentator Peter Drury had some beautiful words. He said, “Lionel Messi has conquered his final peak. Lionel Messi has shaken hands with paradise. The little boy from Rosario, Santa Fe has just pitched up in heaven.”

At the end of this magical tournament, Lionel Messi ended up with the Golden Boot award for his six goals and three assists. Similarly, Argentine players won a plethora of other awards as well as Enzo Fernandes was named the Best Young Player of Tournament. While Emiliano Martinez received the Golden Glove award given to the best goalkeeper of the tournament.
