Argentina great Lionel Messi scored a stunning goal in the first two minutes as his team took on Australia in an international friendly match on Thursday. With this, the football legend scored in his seventh straight game for Argentina. Both the teams are clashing against each other for the first time since the World Cup knockout rounds at the Workers Stadium in Beijing, China on Thursday, June 15, Thursday.
Messi, who is playing his 173rd international game, scored his 103rd goal for his team, as he received the ball from Enzo Fernandez 20 yards from goal. The Argentina captain had led his team to a 2-1 win over Australia in the Round of 16 at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Messi's two-year contract with Paris Saint Germain expired at the end of the 2022-23 football season. The 35-year-old footballer has signed a new deal with US’ Major League Soccer Club Inter Miami. As he was quoted by Albiceleste Talk on Twitter, “After I achieved the World Cup that I was missing, I am satisfied and grateful for the career I have made, and this is what is most important to me. As I said earlier, I don’t think I will participate in the next World Cup. I haven’t changed my mind about that. I’d like to be there to watch it, but I’m not going to participate.”
