Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez suffered a serious injury to his leg during the club’s recent Premier League home defeat at Old Trafford, to lose a place in the standings. During their 0-2 loss against Crystal Palace, the 27-year-old was involved in a defensive challenge with Ismaila Sarr in the final third, and following that, he clutched his leg and immediately called for himself to be substituted while seemingly experiencing a lot of pain.
After the Manchester United medical team assessed him on the pitch, Lisandro Martinez was stretchered off to the rousing reception from the club faithfuls at the Old Trafford, while he moved to tears. The latest injury blow to the Argentine player came 12 months after he had sprained his medial collateral ligament, which led to him missing out on the majority of the second half of the 2023-24 campaign.

We are going to see in the next days but I think it is a serious situation: Ruben Amorim
Due to his injury at the Old Trafford last afternoon, Lisandro Martinez is expected to miss weeks of action for Manchester United and Argentina, according to multiple reports online. Club manager Ruben Amorim was quoted as saying about the injury to his defender, “We are going to see in the next days but I think it is a serious situation. He is not only a great player but a strong character in the dressing room. He felt it and when you are a player, you know when it is something serious.”
“We are here to help him in this difficult moment like he has helped us,” Ruben Amorim further said, which is all the motivation the Argentinian will need to bounce back from the setback. With the expected absence of Lisandro Martinez from the match-day squad in the next few weeks, Manchester United will have to use Matthijs de Ligt, Harry Maguire, and Lenny Yoro with great precision, to get the best out of them individually and as a collective lineup in defence.
