In one of the most awe-inspiring finishes to the Championship season, the English second division, Manor Solomon scored a stoppage time winner at relegated Plymouth Argyle, to secure the title for Leeds United. At the Home Park, Leeds United needed to achieve a win in the last match of the Championship season, to stay ahead of Burnley in the points table, but they left it quite late, but as they say, better late than never.

Going into the 46th and final matchday of the Championship 2024-25 season, Leeds United and Burnely were level on 97 points each, but the former were ahead by 13 on goal difference. When Leeds United were pushing for a winner in the later stages against Plymouth Argyle at Home Park, Burnley had already defeated Millwall at Turf Moor by 3-1, and they were expecting to take home the title.

But, Manor Solomon had other ideas as he ran past a plethora of Plymouth Argyle defenders in the second half stoppage time before slotting the ball in the far corner past the outstretched left hand of the goalkeeper, to send the travelling Leeds United fans into ecstasy. After the elongated celebration, Leeds United players got back to business, holding off Plymouth Argyle, to register a famous 2-1 win and secure the Championship title.

Leeds United and Burnley ended up scoring 100 points each, but the former were crowned Championship champions by virtue of having a better goal difference by 13 than them. Despite not being able to win the coveted title, Burnley equalled the record of 30 clean sheets in a single Championship season, which was previously set by Port Vale in 1953-54, and at the same time, they just conceded 16 goals during the campaign.
