FC Bayern bid an emotional farewell to club legend Thomas Muller during their last home game against Monchengladbach on May 10, at the Allianz Arena. Having already secured the Bundesliga title last weekend due to the mathematical superiority gained after second-placed Bayer Leverkusen dropped points, the Bavarians were eager to celebrate the title in full swing in front of their home crowd and officially lift the trophy. But what made the moment even more special was that this was Thomas Muller’s last-ever football match at the Allianz Arena.

After securing a solid 2-0 victory over Monchengladbach, the celebration mood lit up the entire Allianz Arena. After the medal felicitation ceremony, the club captain Manuel Neuer was called upon and bestowed the 2024-25 Champions Bowl. According to the ritual, Neuer walked on to the podium, where the entire team was waiting for the title to be lifted up in front of the crowd. But in a moment of camaraderie and selflessness, Neuer handed over the trophy to the parting Thomas Muller, who then went on to lift the Bundesliga trophy.

Bayern Munich honours Thomas Muller with massive tifo and felicitation ceremony

‘One-club man’ is a phrase that’s almost synonymous with Thomas Muller, who has played with Bayern Munich for the last 25 years of his life. Rising up from the club’s youth ranks, Muller has made 750 appearances for the German outfit, scoring 248 goals and providing 274 assists. In another record-breaking feat, Muller has now also won 33 total titles with the Bavarians, making him the German player with the greatest number of trophies ever along with becoming one of the most decorated players in football history.

Before yesterday’s Monchengladbach game, FC Bayern honored their club legend with a big tifo of his name and a felicitation ceremony by the directors and sporting heads of the club. Muller, who started the game, was subbed off during the 84th minute for Serge Gnabry, with both set of players rushing down the ground to congratulate the veteran on his final home-game. Muller leaving the pitch got the entire crowd on their feat for one last standing ovation to this German legend.
